Wisdom, what a mysterious word, it sounded so intellectually & profound but yet it is being use like a simple word by every people.
There was once a saying “Wisdom is like a mirror, while knowledge is like a river.”
What is the meaning of Wisdom? Do you all know?
If you check from the dictionary/internet,
Wisdom is a deep understanding of people, things, events or situations, empowering the ability to choose or act to consistently produce the optimum results with a minimum of time and energy. Wisdom is the ability to apply perceptions and knowledge and so produce the desired results.
So you now know that Knowledge is related to Wisdom, now I ask you
What is the meaning of Knowledge?
Knowledge is defined as (i) expertise, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject; (ii) what is known in a particular field or in total; facts and information; or (iii) awareness or familiarity gained by experience of a fact or situation.
From these, you can see different meaning between these 2 words.
In the bible, you see the word Wisdom appear a few times, right? Remember the story of Solomon asking for Wisdom (1st kings 3:5-14), why is Solomon asking God for Wisdom when he is one of the great king? Why is he being humble during his request by lowering himself to servant rank? Why is it so important to ask for it?
Let flip to (Proverbs 2:9-15)
9 Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
11 Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.
12 Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,
13 who leave the straight paths to walk in dark ways,
14 who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
15 whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.
This is the reason why Wisdom is so important.
