Jealousy

Sunday, April 4, 2010

I believe that everyone knows the meaning of jealousy but anyway let me explain the meaning of jealousy and envy as sometime people get confused in these two word. Haha~

Jealousy is an emotion that refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something that the person valuess, such as a relationship, friendship, or love. Jealousy often consists of a combination of emotions such as anger, sadness, and disgust.

Envy is an emotion that occurs when a person lacks another's superior quality, achievement, or possession and either desires it or wishes that the other lacked it.

The experience of jealousy involves:

  • Fear of loss
  • Suspicion or anger about betrayal
  • Low self-esteem and sadness over loss
  • Uncertainty and loneliness
  • Fear of losing an important person to an attractive other
  • Distrust

The experience of envy involves:

  • Feelings of inferiority
  • Longing
  • Resentment of circumstances
  • Ill will towards envied person often accompanied by guilt about these feelings
  • Motivation to improve
  • Desire to possess the attractive rival's qualities
  • Disapproval of feelings
Why people get jealous?
Becaues they are always never satisfied and always look at negative side.

How can jealousy harm us?
It will lead us to sin against God, like the explanation above.

How can we overcome jealousy?
"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." Col 3:12.

How do you know when you are jealous?
By all mean, you would think of ways to destory the other person and had underhand measure.

Why doesn't God want us to be envious of sinful people?
Because they does bad thing, and their judgement had yet to come.

How can we control ourself?
By praying.

Hmm...... that all though it not quite well done but this the end, don't realli noe what to all. Haha~
