We had our first Street Evangelism in 2010 on Saturday 29th May! The venue was the area around Hougang Point Festival Market, time 10am, target was youth. We didn't see much youth around, so some of us spread the word of God to adults also. Generally, it was a good experience for all of us, and God reminded us of things we've forgotten.
For Rachael, she was reminded that we always have to go back to the Bible. "Because the days are evil" (Ephesians 5:16), we see false preachers and many interpretations of Christianity nowadays. The auntie that Rachael, Ai Zhen and Darryl was talking to was confused about Christianity, because of the many different denominations and teachings within Christianity itself. Through this auntie, Rachael was reminded that while the world might tell us many things, we always need to go back to the Bible because it's God's unchanging Truth, and we can count on it to tell us what to do.
Ern shared also about his group members, Kenneth and Joshua, who became very... enthu and walked up to anybody who walked by. In a way, their fearlessness is a reminder to us all that we don't have to be afraid! And also, that it's important for us to spread the word of God to people; there are people out there who have never heard and need to hear about God's saving power, and we honestly don't know if Jesus is coming back the next minute.
Other than spreading the gospel to others, street E helped us in other ways also. For Steff, she felt that she, Jasper and Jemima had good fellowship while they were walking around, sharing with one another their experiences in Sabah. For YuLian Laoshi, Ning, Matthew, big Xuemin & small Desmond, they learnt about a new religion which most people have not heard of before.
SO, Street E is really a good way to: 1, carry out God's command for us to spread His gospel; 2, learn new things; 3, grow closer to people and God. Street E is on every 5th saturday, make yourselves free that day! :D
