Lessons from Vids: Frog in a Pot

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

Hey guys,
Guess its because this few days are exam days for everyone, so I'll be posting again.
This week's video is not as touching as last week's video, but I think it is nonetheless a lesson we should learn.

Here's this week's video:

You might be wondering what in the world can we learn from this video? Well, it can be an example of us in a sinful world.
Most of us are quite capable of telling what is right and what is wrong. Or can we? Sure, we know that "thou shalt not kill", and we should not take drugs, steal, etc. It's like how the frog tries so very hard to avoid a pot of boiling water. However, when we are placed in pot with water of room temperature, in a world of peace, and the water heats up, would we realise the danger? Is a white lie a sin? Is pre-marital sex a sin? Is homosexuality a sin? What was once forbidden, is slowly becoming ok. Now it's legal to be a homo. Just an example of the pot that we live in slowly heating up. Will we be able to jump out of the pot before we are boiled to death?

This is what the Bible says:
I Timothy 6:11 But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness
Flee. The Bible tells us to run away from sin and temptation. Run away from temptation(if you read the verses before this one, you'll know it refers to greed and temptations) . Which means we run at the slightest of heat. Don't wait and let temptation have a chance. Not even a chance. Flee from those things.
Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Do not be conformed to this world. (conformed - Be similar in form or type; agree) I'm not saying that you should not follow the law. You should. Don't jay-walk. I'm saying that do not be swayed by the ways of the world. Chasing fashion, chansing tremds, chasing technology, chasing results, and using whatever means to satisfy yourself. It may be appealing. But we should be chasing GOD.
Psalms 1:1-2 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
Let us learn from the example of the frog in the pot. Don't just sit there and adjust yourself. GET OUT OF THE POT!
