SHAPE - Your Turn to Serve

Monday, August 8, 2011

Hey guys,
This post is a recap of Sunday's sermon, and hopefully recaps will be posted every Sunday/Monday on this blog.
For the sake of some, I shall continue in english. (altough I do hope we can all improve our chinese)
From this parable, we can learn that our neighbours are those that require help, and we can learn from the good Samaritan that we should help anyone in need despite cultural, or any other barriers. However, there are countless people that need help. So where should we start?
Our kind Yi Long lao shi has given us a few areas we can start on:
在家 At Home
start small: show a little appreciation to you family
help with the dishes
help siblings with their work

Among Friends
say hi to that guy/girl who sits alone in class
help teachers carry their books

In Church
help with evangelistic events :playmax, contributing to this blog
show care to your group members
show appreciation to the workers in church

Your City
CIP
greeting the bus driver
Of course not to forget spreading the gospel.
Jesus also made a prophecy of the Final judgement, explaining that any help done unto the needy, is done unto Him as well. Verses will be located at the bottom of this post.
Putting the second question aside due to obvious reasons, my group has made these few conclusions in our discussion. I hope we will be able to get feed back from all groups so we can include your responses in our posts. God actually doesn't need us to serve, as He is omnipotent(almighty). So the fact that God is willing to let us, incompetent(unqualified, unworthy) humans serve Him, shows us two things.
  1. God wants to and is willing to trust us. Our God wants to have an intimate relationship with Him, and shows us His great trust by asking us to serve Him.
  2. God wants us to learn. I can be comparable to how a mother lets her children wash the dishes. God wants us to grow not only on body, but in mind and spirit.
Let us start small, start serving, start now.
