A New Song: More to This Life by Steven Curtis Chapman

Friday, October 7, 2011

This Friday’s new song is by Steven Curtis Chapman: More to this Life.

LYRICS

Okay… I’m just gonna go straight to the point about this song. Personally, I feel that this song serves as a reminder to us about how mundane and aimless our lives are without God and that we should have FAITH and TRUST God. Also, the title of the song - More to this Life - serves as a form of encouragement to all of us, especially when we’re facing stressful exams, crazy workload and naggy parents at home.

So was your week fulfilling? Bad? Horrible? Or you offended someone or someone offended you? Fell sick? Had a bad fall? Managed to achieve something great? Or was your whole week just so plain boring and you had nothing to look forward to? The first and second verse of this song tell us exactly how our life just passes and we live and just die AND for now, life must just GO ON:
V1: Today I watched in silence as people passed me by,
And I strained to see if there was something hidden in their eyes;
But they all looked at me as if to say
Life just goes on.
The old familiar story told in different ways,
Make the most of your own journey from the cradle to the grave;
Dream your dreams tomorrow because today
Life must go on.

V2: Tonight he lies in silence staring into space,
And looks for ways to make tomorrow better than today,
But in the morning light it looks the same;
Life just goes on.

He takes care of his family, he takes care of his work,
And every Sunday morning he takes his place at the church;
And somehow he still feels a need to search,
But life just goes on.

However, I believe all of us know that there’s actually some more to our daily activities in school/work/home. So what makes every perfect?
But there’s more to this life than living and dying,
More than just trying to make it through the day;
More to this life, more than these eyes alone can see,
And there’s more than this life alone can be.
And we all know who is that someone who gives life more meaning. GOD. He will lead the way and let us see what we can see and that is His presence, love, promise, faith, warmth and the list goes on…

And all we have to do is just to have faith in God and let our faith grow and not lose hope. I’m sure all of us have once complained or grumble to God saying, ‘WHY MUST IT BE THIS WAY?’; Or challenge and question God about His plan, ‘LIKE SERIOUSLY? COME ON, YOU CAN DO IT BETTER...’ These are signs of lack of faith.

Are you lacking faith? Or you feel that God doesn’t seem to hear your prayers?
Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Deuteronomy 31:8 It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Never ever, ever, ever forget that we live by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

I hope my little sharing did make a tiny difference to how you view your live, renewed your faith and sort of encouraged you in some way. I'm sure that I only pointed out a few stuff so (if not, it’ll be a very very very long post)… Feel free to share in the tag box/comment link/FB about your reflection 'bout this song or your problems or thanksgivings. I'm sure all of us would be there to support and pray for you.

Cheers people!
